These are walk-behind small tractors which are invaluable for tilling and preparing fields and for a variety of other jobs.
They are particularly important for getting fields ready quickly, now that the rains often come late, and it is important not to lose time getting things ready, so that the growing time for the rice is as long as possible.
We have had generous donations from Stirling Fair Trade Group for these and they are proving invaluable.
They cost around £2000 but can service a number of farms quickly. Importantly Howard has received training in Dumfries with Paul Tofield on engine maintenance and is on hand to assemble, when they first arrive, and to ensure that they are properly serviced and to carry out repairs when necessary.
